Kevin McKenna

Born in Greenwich Village, New York , I became interested in photography as a child when gifted an old twin-lens reflex camera by a relative. I realized at an early age that virtually ‘anything’ could be photographed to produce beautiful images.

Upon graduating university, armed with an old Nikon F and a couple of lenses, I left for Spain where I spent the better part of ten years working and traveling throughout Europe which afforded me the opportunity to document many of the places I visited. After returning to the States, I spent a few months traveling the country and finally ended up in Rochester, NY where I worked part-time in the Photo-Illustration Department of Eastman Kodak while taking courses at R.I.T.

After 3 years I moved to Miami where I worked as a free-lance photojournalist/editorial photographer. During that time I was a regular contributor to the Spanish edition of the Miami Herald, the now defunct Miami Times and the Miami New Times and produced work for clients such as Eastman Kodak, PepsiCo, Reuters News Service, Ft. Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel, Holiday Inn, Paradise Island Resort & Casino, StoCorp, Alcoa, Phelps-Dodge, Warner Bros.,.et al. My work has appeared in numerous publications including newspapers, magazines, brochures, annual reports and textbooks and can be found in corporate and private collections.
