When I started photography — a number of years ago I'm not willing to share — it didn't take me long to know absolutely every function and setting my camera had to offer. In fact, even changing cameras only took a little while to learn the new additions. Now, each camera is a stride further along with technology and it can be difficult to dig through all the functionality, let alone remember it all.
Sony cameras are certainly a brand where there is a lot I don't know or have ever used. Having a foot in both photography and another foot in video, often combined in a hybrid body, means that there are settings for both. You never know what you might be missing and in this video, Pike walks you through 10 tips he uses.
One he mentions that I have seen newer photographers unaware of in both photography and videography, is the capability to use APS-C, crop sensor lenses on full frame bodies. By using Sony's Clear Image Zoom and setting it to x1.3 (the crop factor of an APS-C sensor compared to full frame), you can use the crop lens with perfect utility. As Pike mentions, you can get incredibly fast and crisp crop lenses for a fraction of the price of their full frame counterparts, so it could be a way to bolster your lens armory.
