80% of the Basics of Videography in Under 10 Minutes

If you're looking at getting into videography, it can be intimidating, even if you have a background in photography. In this video, Pat Kay walks you through the bulk of the basics in a succinct and clear way.

If there's one thing I appreciate about YouTube education, it's conciseness. Not many educators prioritize the act of distilling down the information as much as possible, and when it's done right, it's a beautiful thing. That is what Pat Kay does with this video introducing the basics of videography in a little over 8 minutes.

I started videography through nothing but necessity. I had been working with clients for a while who I valued highly and they valued me, so when their need for video came up, they asked me to do it. I'll freely admit, given how long I'd been a photographer, I expected the transition to be easy. There were elements that were intuitive and carried over neatly, but there were also parts that were fresh. For example, the FPS and the shutter speed's interaction is not something you can necessarily guess.

In this brief but highly useful video, get the bulk of what you need to know to get started in the world of videography. If you think there's anything that Kay missed, share it in the comment section below.
