Apple's New Advertising Campaign Is 100% iPhone User Generated

Apple's new advertising campaign couldn't possibly get any simpler: One 15 second clip shot on the new iPhone 6 and then the name of the iPhone user who shot it. I personally think it's one of the most inspiring ad campaigns I've ever seen.

For years I have tried to convince people their gear isn't holding them back. It's so easy think that you need more megapixels, a faster lens, or expensive lighting to take a quality image or video. Instead of creating something with what we already have, it's much more comfortable to blame our lack of effort on our lack of gear. We created The iPhone Fashion Shoot years ago to prove that you are capable of creating art with almost anything, including a iPhone 3GS (which is worth around $100 today).

So now, anyone with any smartphone is capable of walking outside and taking a video that is higher quality than almost any consumer video camera from 10 years ago. What's even more impressive than that is that anyone with an iPhone can now shoot a video clip that could be picked up by the most valuable company in the world to promote one of the most successful products of all time. If that isn't inspiring to you, I don't know what is.

Is this part of the campaign? not exactly sure how this tackles not having good enough gear cos it clearly has all the gear plus pro model, Stylist, a prank phone call, plus pro lighting and even a retoucher (pro). I'm sorry the first comment is a bit negative but I'm being really honest. Is this part of the campaign?

My take was much simpler... that it's easier than most would believe to craft excellent work with minimal gear. At the time, most people had not imagined daring to employ a phone for a fashion shoot... the lighting and retouching were besides the point.

but don't people consider lighting as part of gear? (all those lights do not count as minimal) I'll be forced to assume that this is for people who think the camera is the king of it all then.
Thanks Sean for your response.

Its not part of the add campaign. You might not be a regular here or own an iphone but thats an iPhone 3/G and was posted here when that model of phone came out. We have since gone thru a 4, 4s, 5, 5s and now 6.

I agree, this wouldnt be a good add for Apple since its not indicative of just the phone. The other videos are.

We made our video years ago and it has nothing to do with Apples current ad campaign. I was just posting it as an example that art can be made with "cheap" gear.

Doesn't this go back to it being about talent, not equipment? Give an iPhone to Spike Lee (or Jonez), and see what you get.
