Viltrox APS-C Sony E Mount T1.5 Cinema Lens Set First Look

If you are looking for an affordable set of APS-C Sony E mount Cine lenses, then this article may interest you. Viltrox has just released a new set of manual focus cine lenses for Sony E-mount APS-C cameras with a minimum aperture of T1.5.

The Viltrox APS-C manual focus cine lens set is well built, with all-metal construction, low-light capability, and at a price lower than the competition. But can it compete with the likes of Sony lenses?

Before we go any further, unlike photography lenses, manual focus cine lenses are primarily designed for video capture, and one of the pros of them is that they are built to similar specifications to make swapping your lenses from a gimbal a little easier.

As you probably already know, using a gimbal can be a pain at times, especially if the lenses you are using are different sizes. With a matched set of cine lenses, you will experience much less hassle switching between lenses.

When choosing a set of cine lenses for video, of course, there is a lot more to consider, such as sharpness, color rendition, bokeh, contrast, flares, size, and weight. Then, add affordable to the mix, and you are left with few choices.

Viltrox has been able to keep the price low, and you may be surprised by the quality of these lenses. Check out the video above for some sample footage shot on the Viltrox APS-C manual focus T1.5 Sony E-mount Cine lenses to judge their quality for yourself.

The only area that could use a little improvement, is that the lenses are not as sharp in the corners at T1.5 as the center, but they sharpen up nicely throughout the frame from T4 and upwards.

Small point, but 1.5 is the lens’s maximum aperture, not minimum.
