B&H’s Bild Expo: Who Will Be There and What You Will Learn

B&H is turning 50, and they are celebrating with their Bild Expo September 6 and 7th at the Javits Center, in Manhattan. It is a free event where you can take advantage of a lineup of industry giants spanning across genres. Whether you're in need of renewed inspiration, valuable business advice, or acquiring new skills, you can expect an abundance of the most experienced voices at the expo.

Who Will Be Speaking?

Travel photographer and Photoshop educator Scott Kelby will be sharing the main stage with others such as wildlife legend Art Wolfe, portrait master Dan Winters, fashion photographer Flo Ngala, all around superstar Kenneth Hines Jr, and so many more. You can see which of your favorite creators is presenting here.

What Will the Expo Include?

The Bild Expo will feature a wide range of learning and hands-on opportunities. There will be four main stages: The Bild Main stage will focus on talks from the world's best photographers, directors, and creators. The OPTIC stage will focus on outdoor and travel photography. The Depth of Field Stage will offer instruction on portrait, wedding, and event photography, while the Creative Production stage will be a hub focused on filmmaking, videography, and editing.

If you feel that you need a fresh set of eyes on your work, you'll be able to take advantage of the portfolio reviews and roundtables. Here, you will have access to industry experts conducting portfolio reviews and thematic roundtable. You will have plenty of opportunities to network and share in discussions on the topics that mean the most to you.

While at the Expo, you can also join a brand ambassador-led photo walk to get real-time tips and hands-on experience as you explore the Big Apple.

As to be expected, more than two hundred brands will be present to celebrate B&H’s 50th anniversary. Whether you have questions about your current gear or you are eager to broaden your collection, the Partner Pavilion will be a space for you to explore and experiment with cutting-edge photo, video, and audio equipment. Bring your camera gear bag with you, and maybe you'll have a few new pieces on your way home from giveaways or new discoveries.

We hope to see you there!

Thanks for the summary Michelle.

I've been getting emails from B&H about this event, but didn't pay any attention to them because I assumed there wouldn't be very much specifically about wildlife photography. But your detailed summary leads me to believe that there may be at least a modicum of wildlife-specific content there.

I happen to be living just 2 hours from Manhattan for the next month, so I may just get up there one morning or afternoon.

But first I gotta make sure that I'll be able to find free parking that is just a short distance from the entrance ..... I hate it when I drive a couple hours to get to something, and then I get there and can't find free parking that is really close ..... so I end up just giving up and driving back home, solely because I will not pay for parking and I am not willing to walk more than 3 minutes to get from my car to a venue (the reason I don't attend sporting events anymore).

If you happen to have any details on the parking situation near the Javits Center, please let us know here in the comments.

EDIT:

I found this via Google (screenshot attached below). Sadly, at $3 per hour, one could be into it for $20 or more for a day spent at the event 🙁. And even if one were willing to pay that much money, one would still have a 5 minute or longer walk just to go from one's car to the Javits Center entrance.

This may be a case for using public transportation .... but I suspect they charge for that, too .... lol. Seems like there is bound to be a little expense or inconvenience involved no matter how one goes about getting there. Maybe I can get a buddy to just drop me off at the door and then come back later to pick me up. Not really sure how else to do it. But who could I get to do that for me? Hmmmmm.

I'm glad you enjoyed it Tom Reichner . I think "free" and "new york" don't ever go together in the same sentence! I was surprised that the event itself is free (you do have to register for it- but there is no cost). I've found, that sometimes being in a space with other photographers, ideas being shared, and seeing new work invigorates my inner creativity and it gives me a good boost. Perhaps the small expense will be an investment in your creative spirit getting a boost.

I think Tom is posting as a joke.
