How to Take a Great Bird Photo From Start to Finish

Bird photography is a challenging genre, requiring top-level technique, specialized equipment, and an excellent understanding of animal behavior to produce compelling images, but when you get it all right, the results can be stunning. If you would like to improve your bird photos, check out this fantastic video tutorial by an experienced bird photographer that will show you everything that goes into making a compelling bird image from start to finish.

Coming to you from Jan Wegener, this excellent video tutorial will show you the ins and outs of what makes a great bird photo. I have always had tremendous respect for dedicated bird photographers; it is a genre that takes patience, dedication, and serious technique. I was particularly interested in the discussion on how to select the right image. While we talk about catchlights in portraiture all the time, I never expected to hear about them in bird photography. It was also quite fascinating (and impressive) to hear just how many details need to be just right to create a top-notch image, particularly when you do not have control over the posing of your subject like you would with a human! Check out the video above for the full rundown from Wegener.
