As if shooting actions sports such as trial biking isn’t difficult enough as it is, doing it in a dimly-lit historical hotel (without damaging anything) would certainly prove to be more challenging.
I’ve been a huge fan of BMX and other actions sports since I was young, growing up racing at local tracks and jumping over anything I could muster the courage to soar over. Times have changed a lot since then, unlike the Grande Hotel de I’Europe, and both bicycle and camera technology have come a long way.
Using the medium-format Leica S (Typ 007) and quality off-camera lighting, photographer Armin Walcher along with experienced trials rider, Tom Ohler, set out to photograph the Grande Hotel de l’Europe, which is more than a hundred years old, in a way that hadn’t been done before.
Walcher was able to put his creative idea into practice after only a few short weeks of planning and put his medium-format Leica and its three lenses, namely Leica Vario-Elmar-S 30-90mm f/5.6 ASPH, Leica Summicron-S 100 mm f/2 ASPH, and the Leica Summarit-S 35mm f/2.5 (CS) to work, capturing what he refers to as images that have a three-dimensional quality.
such a great camera, it's a dream to shoot tethered with as well.
Looking at the final images on the blog. Just not seeing the difference between Leica MF and any pro DSLR at least not in these shots.
Also Trials HD on xbox is sweet.
I wonder how much of that has to do with viewing on a screen rather than print but your point shows how much were nearing diminishing returns on image quality.

Absolutely agree. MF is known for its detail and transitions. With high contrast lighting like this one could hardly see any dfiference.
Right. and honestly I've seen some pretty impressive close up beauty photography on MF that made the larger sensor shine.... but high contrast and a wider shot.... didn't seem necessary.

I hate it when bts videos don't show any finished images. I get that they're trying to drive traffic to the webpage but it's still a pain and I think does more harm than good.

It is. The term Medium format is used to describe a sensor that is larger then 35mm full frame but smaller than large format. This camera has a 45 x 30mm sensor so larger than full frame 35mm.
Yep, it's not 6x45, 6x6, 6x7, 6x8, 6x9 or 6x12 and 6x17, it's leica digital medium format. By the way you can not find real(analog) medium format sensor size, biggest should be Phase One IQ360 53.9x40.4.
