The Five Pillars of Photography Business Success

Once you’ve had a measure of success in your business, the next step is to figure out how to sustain it. This video shares what areas to continue to focus on to avoid failure in our industry.

No matter how much success you’ve had, there will be a time when business will slow down leaving you wondering what is going on. When this happens, the best thing you can do is get back to the basics and reevaluate everything that you have been doing. In this video from Adorama, Vanessa Joy shares her tips to prevent your photography business from failing.

This is something I’ve seen a lot, in other businesses as well as in my own. You get several bookings, which then increases your time working with those clients on tasks such as communication and editing. Eventually, other areas of your business become neglected because you don’t have the time you once had. Soon, you find that you haven’t focused on marketing or customer service. The next season comes up and your bookings are down because you haven’t used your resources to attract new clients. This cycle happens often and is something to always look to avoid.

Although this video is short, it is a great reminder to stay focused on the basics of business and includes several quick tips on how to do so. To see Joy’s five pillars of success, watch the video above.
