Holy crap! I'm humbled with the second place result with all the incredible submissions!

I don't get what the rating is about when you just pick 3 random photos for the prices...?

The ratings are supposed to be an objective way to critique the images. We've designed the ratings so that if you fairly evaluate the work, the photographer can have a good idea of where it stands in the scope of other people's work. It's not perfect and people notoriously give 1 stars to images that are clearly 3s, but the goal is for it to be useful.

I don't know of any other website or platform that lets people vote on the quality of images the way they can on Fstoppers.

That said, we usually give the highest rated image a prize (but not always) and it's fun and nice to mix up the community's rating so that no one can game the system by getting 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places solidified right before the contest ends.

That's a long answer but hope it helps make sense.

hey Lee and Patrick, thanks for the critique of my photo [ ... Reynisdrangar ] in the contest video :-) yes it's taken close to the small town Vík in Iceland. The many small dots are not sensor dirt ... these are birds ... Seagulls. Here you can see the original files ... the light and color were exactly like in my picture. Only minimal post processing applied, no doge and burning and no AI! Cheers from Iceland, Raymond https://1drv.ms/i/s!Aiu3hZXzeseT5wH8QK7vvuRgclo0?e=162hFe

That was an awesome shot!

I could see they were more bird than dust on the video.

Hey Lee, Patrick or anyone else any answers to the square root equation? In the Christophe Baldy photograph.

And the answer is, ...
Humble π
