Also, in a few years everything is going to be USB-C/Thunderbolt anyway, so your snark about it now is just short-sighted.

Seems like a good deal, but I dont really think its $700 worth of savings. A similarly built current Macbook Pro on apples site is only $2,599.00 and you get an extra .1 GHz as well.
