Being a creative comes with a healthy dose of assaults on our confidence, both internal and external. When it comes to those internal assaults, one of the worst is impostor syndrome. Impostor syndrome can undermine your confidence and make it difficult to perform at your best behind the camera. Impostor syndrome is something many of us experience at one time or another. In short, it is the sense that we not qualified for or do not deserve the opportunities we have been given. While it can be frustrating and can rob us of satisfaction in our work, what is even more dangerous is that the resulting loss of confidence can cause us to pass up useful opportunities or to not perform at our highest levels, at which point it becomes a bit of a self-fulfilling prophecy and can end up spiraling.
