Five Hacks for Video With a Smartphone

The video quality a smartphone is able to produce these days is so good that you can use it for a lot more than just vacation memories. If you want to take it to the next level, here are five tricks to make your iPhone videos stand out without spending more than a couple of bucks.

Anyone can film with a smartphone just like anyone can take a picture with a camera. The quality of the result doesn’t come from the gear itself but how you use it. A phone can be a handy tool when shooting video because it’s so light and small that it can fit in places most cameras couldn’t. Using the five tricks shown by the guys from Cinecom.net in the video above, you’ll see that making the most out of your smartphone doesn’t have to be complicated.

You can use these tips in your daily Instagram stories, to make better behind the scenes videos, or even have some unique footage to include in bigger productions that don’t require the highest image quality possible. Best of all, these ideas won’t cost you much as the gear used is very minimal and available to anyone.

Do you have any other hack that you use to make the most of your video footage when using a smartphone? Which one do you like best? I’d love to read your thoughts in the comments below.

Interesting to see anyone, especially a film maker, using duct tape instead of gaffers tape. Good tips though ("hacks" is already a passe term ;) I never thought of doing the anamorphic flare trick to a phone lens, very cool.

I thought he was going to stick the phone to the side of the car but when I saw him going for the wheel I was like "WTF." :)

Why do things like these need to be called HACKS every time. Why not "5 inventive ways to use your phones camera!" ?

I loved the tips! thanks so much!

Definitely a few solid tips I hadn't seen elsewhere. Thanks for the info!

Stop using the stupid wrong term "hacked". If anything these are "mods" as in modifications :P

well thats 4 minutes i never get back was curious about the string in the thumbnail but it was not worth watching
