Helpful Tips for Better Dance Photography

Dancers are incredibly athletic artists, and as such, they can make for wonderful portrait subjects. There are some specific techniques and considerations you should be aware of if you want to get the best possible photos, however. This excellent video tutorial will show you a range of helpful tips for working with dancers to get the most creative and compelling results possible.

Coming to you from Will Saunders with COOPH, this great video tutorial will show you some awesome tips for working with dancers. Working with dancers can be a uniquely wonderful creative opportunity that can allow you to create images that would not be possible otherwise. One important thing to always keep in mind is that dancers are often working near the extremes of physical capabilities, and they can't just repeat movements over and over. Be sure to plan your shots in advance with your subject and have your settings properly dialed in before you start shooting. Finally, keep checking in with your subject to ensure that they are comfortable and are not overly fatigued, as that is when the risk of injury is generally the highest. Check out the video above for the full rundown from Saunders.
