Do you have old grainy photos that you'd love to modernize and bring new life to? Photoshop has a new filter that lets you do just that in a matter of seconds.
On my recent return home to Australia, I took both my daughters, now aged four and six. It was our first time back in three years, and now that they're both a little older, they took a real interest in old photos that my mother (their grandmother) had of me when I was a child. They laughed their little heads off seeing me as a two-year-old with spaghetti over my face, but as we went through them all, I couldn't help casting a critical eye over those old prints while I contemplated how far image quality and print quality has come in that time. "Wouldn't it be nice to be able to bring those old photos up to modern standards," I thought.
And that brings us to a great new video brought to you by Unmesh Dinda, from PiXimperfect, in which he discusses a new filter on Photoshop that restores old photos and breathes new life into them. Indeed, it's actually called the restoration filter. However, it's not available in the standard version of Photoshop just yet, but Unmesh shows you exactly how to get it. He also puts the filter to the test, discusses its limitations, and compares it with similar platforms like Remini and MyHeritage. I have already begun planning how I'll jazz up all those images my kids loved so they can go up on our family wall at home and not look so old and out of place. What do you think?
