As we start 2019, it's a great time to take a look at your photography skills and habits and start prioritizing where you'd like to improve in the coming year. This great video will give you seven tips and ideas to think about trying this year.
Coming to you from Nigel Danson, this helpful video will give you seven tips and ideas to not only improve your photography, but to improve your experience of it as well. Of the tips, I think my two favorite are allocating money to travel and shooting locally as well. Danson advocates spending less money on gear and allocating some funds to traveling. We don't often talk about this, but it's a great way to build your portfolio and experience landscapes you might never see otherwise. On the other end of the spectrum, I also love the idea of choosing somewhere local and practicing shooting that throughout the year. Living in Ohio, I don't have the advantage of grand landscapes and dramatic views, but because of that, it's really helped me hone my compositional eye and learn to see photographs in places that might seem boring at first glance. Check out the video above for more of Danson's helpful tips.
"Living in Ohio, I don't have the advantage of grand landscapes and dramatic views..." Living in Cleveland, you have access to Cuyahoga National Park, Lake Erie and a few bogs. Not necessarily grand or dramatic but better than where I live. :-/
