Which MacBook Pro Is Right for You: The M1 Pro or M1 Max?

The latest generation of Apple MacBook Pros has taken another huge step forward in performance, offering remarkable capabilities that can duplicate or even exceed those of many desktops, along with all-day battery life. There are two main options from which to choose, the M1 Pro and M1 Max, and this excellent video takes a look at both to help you decide which will best suit your budget and needs.

Coming to you from John Branch IV Photography, this great video will help you choose between the new MacBook Pro M1 Pro and M1 Max laptops. While the first M1 chip was mightily impressive, the M1 Pro and M1 Max really take things to another level, and the latest MacBook Pro models are easily viable desktop replacements, even for demanding creatives. And while all that powerful performance is highly impressive, the thing that continues to capture my attention is just how good the battery life is, making the new laptops much more versatile for working in the field, on long days away from a power source, or on a lengthy flight. Add in a docking station and a larger monitor for working at home, and it looks like you could have everything you need. Check out the video above for the full rundown on both computers.

I still have a 7 year old 15" MacBook Pro with 16 GB of RAM and 512 GB SSD, so these laptops can be a long term investment indeed. The good point he's making is to try to go big on storage. You need at least 1 or 2 TB of storage to be able to hold to a typical patch of work, and I think going over might be an overkill if you're going to backup photos to external storage or the cloud after you're done editing and producing the final images
