Great light on the peaks and trees, but how is the sky so blue?

As for the sky, it was a cold morning right after a storm, not sure if that effects it, but i also now skies tend to be darker at higher elevations. It probably a bit exaggerated from what it was, but its not that far off from the raw file. I was not using any filters on the lens and only did contrast highlight and shadow adjustments in lightroom. It does seam a bit saturated though..
