The hotel at Paranal Observatory has two parallel entrance corridors that (almost) line up with the Milky Way when it’s at its maximum elevation. This makes it possible to take gorgeous shots of the Milky Way framed by the walls of the corridors.

A few years ago I took an image like that, but I was never 100% happy with it, as I couldn’t quite capture the very subtle glow of the starry sky reflected on the floor of the corridor.

So a few weeks ago I tried the same shot again from the other corridor, which is not as deep as the first one (I forgot to mention that the hotel is buried underground!). I very much prefer this image over the older one. What do you think?

Canon 6D + Rokinon 14 mm f/2.8, 30 sec, ISO6400.
