The composite here could use a bit more work on blending and making it look natural, especially since there should be clouds in front of the moon but there aren't any.
Yes, it is a composite but the pictures were taken in sequence. Therefore it is impossible to make clouds appear in front of the moon because they were just so thin. As you can see the main part of the clouds do form this yellowish ring around the moon and it is not possible to bring in clouds around the moon. the long exposure was just to enhance the cloudiness around the moon.
