Start with reading a proper photography book, something like "The Photographer's Eye: Composition & Design for better digital photos" which will teach you a whole lot about composition.

p.s. In photoshop, there's an option in Camera RAW converted called Lens Corrections.
Enable lens correction and the DeFringing option to get rid of the fringing around out of focus objects.
