A freezing morning on Convict Lake, in the Eastern Sierras of California. It was extremely windy, and before wind-chill factor it was 28 degrees F. With wind chill, it was probably closer to zero degrees F.

This Image was the last shot I captured before the lens was splashed with icy water and I was unable to take any more pictures until the day warmed up. Just one or two days later, the entire lake was frozen over.

Damn, tough crowd! (currently at 2.7 stars) ...Any comments on what stops this image from being a "winner" in your eyes? Thanks!!!

Maybe it should be REQUIRED to leave a comment with a critique if you want to rate a photo 1-2 stars.

I'm honestly NOT trying to say that any of my "water" photos are better than 2.5/5. They're definitely not perfect. But if the whole point of giving someone a very low rating is to get the message across that they've "got a lot of work to do", ...then why not take a second to actually leave a suggestion?!?

Personally, I struggled with the WB on this one, I liked the idea of it being a very cold scene with just a faint touch of warm sunlight on the very tip of the peak, so I think I went with exactly 5000K WB. My only other hesitance is maybe the corners /edges are a bit less exciting than the central area; maybe this shot is much stronger as a 1:1 crop?
