While I'd like to say I hiked miles and miles through 60mph winds in a blizzard to arrive at this pristine alpine lake I cannot tell a lie. My wife and I were headed to the Blue Lagoon in Iceland when we past this scene literally right on Ring Road. I pulled over in a spot my wife seemed to think was rather precarious, but I paid no attention as the thoughts of composition and light were already dancing in my brain. This moraine had formed as the most recent snow began melting and running down to the low areas flanking either side of Ring Road. It was surprising calm, especially for Iceland, which allowed for a great reflection. Sadly, after I bagged this shot my wife's concerns were confirmed; as we readied ourselves to pulled back onto the highway we were greeted by the sound of tires spinning and didn't move at all. Our tiny rental had literally sunken into the snow and our tires were finding no traction. Eventually we gathered enough of a crew to get free of our hole and were on our way. Note to self, the wife is always right, but I thought this image made it all worth it ;)
