It's overexposed.

The clipping path/mask is obvious. So much so that it's distracting.

Both subjects should have their skin color corrected to remove the discoloration and blotchiness.

There are no blacks.

There's really no shadows. As a result, there's no definition on the face of either subject. When you're controlling the light, you're really controlling the shadows. I can't think of a good reason to ever eliminate the shadows altogether. Take more time and consideration in where you want your shadows to fall in the future. Think less about light, and more about shadow.

The baby is looking out into the ether, while the mother is looking at the camera. This creates a tension that I assume the photographer wasn't meaning to create.

It's my personal preference that the smaller subject is lower than the larger subject. The mother holding the baby higher than eye level is making me uncomfortable. I can't find a horizon. Again this is preference - take it as a grain of salt.

Chase I can not tell you how much I appreciate the detailed feedback, thank you for taking the time, I will work through each of your comments and keep striving to improve. Many thanks.

Bring your aperture up to bring both subjects into focus. Looks like you were focused on the right eye of the woman. Everything else is blurry. I would do a F16 atleast.

Thanks Kyle I'll give it a try.

overexposed like a mofo

Thanks for the feedback Alonzo, I'm not sure I am familiar with that particular acronym, I went to look at your portfolio to see if that would help but it appears to be missing. In any event yes it is and following previous feedback I feel I have already taken some, hopefully improved, portraits. Its a steep learning curve!
