OOOps... forgot to remove my watermark. Guess I'll hear about that. lol!
lol- someone has already voted this as a "snapshot". Boy there are some threatened folks out there. I don't expect a world class rating by any means... but if you think this is a snapshot you obviously don't understand the rating system. The composition, the lighting and the editing clearly make it not a snapshot. Please indulge me with your reasoning for the "snapshot" rating. Maybe you don't like it... and that is fine. But a "snapshot" it is not.
People in here can be quite cruel. They think if they give out too many stars it will cost them points or something. I think its a really pretty image Love the colors and light. I take this rating system with a grain of salt and just have fun.
I like the crop and the layers created by the line of cars, but the HDR feel is a little strong for me, with the cars seeming as bright/brighter than the sky in places, despite much of them presumably being in shadow. I think with a different edit this would be at least a 3 for me, but I also recognize this is entirely subjective and up to your personal taste. Regardless, you're right--definitely not a snapshot!
I do agree that the saturation is a bit more than my liking. I used a Joel Grimes high contrast action. My first time using it and still learning how to get the desired effect. So I’ve just learned from the reactions I’m getting that I should have brought done the saturation some before applying the action? Correct?
Love the shot. I took one of these cars 34 years ago on my rebellious road trip around the country. Haven't thought about that for years. So this image caused an immediate emotional reaction for me. Isn't that what any photographer can hope for?! 5 stars for you both in appreciation and to offset the low raters. Well done.
PS i think the oversaturation can work in this "Americana" style image. I thought it was an intentional, artistic effect and i like it.
Thank you!!! I appreciate your comment- glad I could summon a memory for you.
Nice shot, Kimberly! It's to me a very solid and balanced image that deserves a better rating. Unfortunately some folks prefer to take advantage by diminishing other people's pictures in order to rank higher themselves. Today I post my first one and I am already aware of this. That's the game, and the only thing we can do is just keep focusing on what we do to improve our skills.
