Just a second more and you could frame his head against the light of the window. Yes, there is light behind, but it isn't really influencing the subject or causing any kind of backlit effect.
Yes but then the carriage would be in front of the three, and the horse would almost disappear in the darker background. So I don`t know what would be best?
