The image shows the personality of Father Heinz Kulüke, a german priest and charity worker in Cebu City with projects to improve the life of thousands of families. His huge impact for the life of the poor is illustrated by the loudspeakers and the large shadow. A dark sky stands for the countless problems in the area and the balloons are for the rising hope. Below one can see the roofs of some of the buildings created for the poor and homeless from the garbage landfill. It wasn't staged, just used on one of our roundtrips to document his incredible work. I want to see his face closer to the camera. But I will say I like this photo a lot and the symbolism there-in you have explained. It tells a great story and that is all important I photography. Maybe this would be better in another category contest. I feel this photo, although not a true portrait in the traditional sense, is rated far too low as are the photos of your portfolio which I looked at.
