beautiful. which camera?

Nikon D810!

Man, people are judging harshly on here. I love this photo! The colors are eye catching, smile is genuine, lighting is on point and composition is unique. I love it.

It's a combination of a few things I think:
1. People don't abide by the rating system. A "1" is a snapshot. As in, anyone with a phone or camera could have taken it. It was spur of the moment. It wasn't planned.

Many photos on here, while maybe not the best photography, are by definition not snapshots since they clearly have modeled subjects, strobe, composite edits, etc...

The other two problems are, people rank other photos low so theirs are ranked higher and they can potentially win a free tutorial and...

Many people think they are better photographers than they are, so they just generally are hyper critical of other people's work.

I do agree that this community has some amazing photographers for sure! It kind of makes me fee sub par, however there are good photographs, I believe, that do not have to be staged, or take months to create. Maybe there should be separate groups within this community based on the type of photographer you are. We are all unique with different shooting styles.

Did you mean separate groups in the contests, or in Fstoppers in general?

You know..that's a good question. I'm just thinking about a way to separate skill levels within the contests?

I think that would be a good idea. Maybe differentiate which photos you see based on your own ranking outside of the contest. If you are a 3-star photographer, you see entries by other people of similar ranking.

yes and there can be a winner from each ranking? I like where this is going. Maybe we should bring it up to the board lol

I think individual winners would be a good idea. The only problem is how exactly to group them. By whole numbers? Halves? What's the real difference between a 2.9 star photographer and a 3.1 star one? Do they get grouped together? That's my guess on why this isn't the system already.

Isn't the rating automatic? If I look at my profile it tells me what category I'm in even though my rating isn't sitting on a perfect .0 number.

Thank you!

Yeah, seriously some poor rating here, great shot! Love the low angle and light on this one too!

Hey thanks!
