The picture was taken with my Mamiya RB67 with a red gel hung over the bottom half of the lens. The effect from the gel darkens the sea, making it more foreboding - like a large cloud is approaching the ship. The ships placement, which rests at the horizon line, evokes different emotions to me. It seems pressed between these huge natural forces. I get feelings of loneliness from this picture, but then also bravery. I suppose that is one of photography's greatest effects - how we perceive an image is often based on our current emotions.
