I took this image a few years ago. I was out shooting sunset on the waterfront of my hometown. There were a bunch of birds hanging around a boat that was docked. I noticed this pelican looking my way and proceeded to shoot away. There was some gorgeous light covering the scene. I chose to put it on a black background to take out some of the distractions and I think changing it to black and white brought out more of the detail. This was the first time I was able to get a sharp photo of an animal looking at the camera. I don't know how "emotional" it is but it seems to provoke some kind of emotion when I look at it.
