Working to get into the music scene with my camera, I had the opportunity to shoot the swedish singer Moneybrother in a Live-on-tape-session. While this being a video gig, I still took the time to get some great photos of a professional singer in action.

I know singers appear to spend all time they are singing with their eyes shut - maybe the lyrics are written on the inside of their eyelids - but they are open some of the time - so try to time your shots when they are open - or just take a short burst. I know it's hard - the shadow in the eye sockets also removes life from the face.
Try capturing a little movement in the shot to add energy - maybe as the singer pulls back from the mic to breathe.
