Taken in London for my 100 Strangers Project. I met Jen down by the Thames and couldn't resist her cool hood. Since I met her next to an underpass, we didn't need to search for a better location.
As all portraits in my project, it was shot on my nifty fifty and the background darkened in Photoshop.
Some people won't like the person walking in the background but I do...!
I'll follow my own griping by giving concrete feedback to my vote. The image is solid, IMO. But, the light on the subject is a bit flat. If this is flash maybe bring it closer to increase fall-off and create some shadow. The model is pretty and nicely separated from the background.
Didn't use flash back then, just a cloudy day probably...
I rated it a 4 just because I like the subject, her expression, and the composition. I just don't like the person on the right.
Thank you, I understand, sometimes I overprocess my images but over time I have learnt that I prefer not too. I could have cloned the person out but it is a street portrait on a busy street. If it was a stylised shoot, definitely wait until the coast is clear or edit.
Thank you for your honest critique and 4 stars is very kind...
I'm a bit with Robert on this. A little more contrast and a touch more darkening of the background (still keeping that person in the back there) wouldn't hurt, I think. I guess it just comes down to personal preferences.
