This was taken at Cradle Mountain while travelling through Tasmania. I wasn't able to capture some of the landscape features due to the intense fog and rain that day, so had to look for other opportunities.
The 'boat shed' was a popular location that provided plenty of interest, but the challenge was finding ways to avoid the cliche tourist shot. Getting late in the day with limited time, we wandered from the path, finding this line of white rocks leading towards the shed. Cold and wet, my partner reluctantly provided the model.
I decided on a tighter vertical frame to make it less about the landscape itself and allow more emphasis on the relationship between the two subjects, hoping to maintain a feeling of isolation, loneliness, and discovery.
