Bad Timing!
Pinnacle Rock (Galápagos, Ecuador). Sept 2023.
Bad Timing - a sally lightfoot crab (Grapsus grapsus) wanders under a blue-footed booby (Sula nebouxii), at the wrong time - just as the blue-footed booby defecates. This is obviously the normal resting/roosting spot for the booby, judging by the amount of guano. We were about to snorkel around Pinnacle rock looking for Galapagos penguins when I thought I would take a shot of the booby. As we were on a moving dinghy I used a high shutter speed and a burst to hopefully mitigate any engine vibration from affecting the image sharpness. I only noticed the hapless crab when I checked the image for sharpness after taking it. Some dodging/burning in post. Kit used: Sony A7R2 + Tamron 28-75 1/640s f3.2 ISO 100.
