Rainbow Bee-eaters
Australia

Every spring Rainbow Bee-eaters gather to nest and breed along a stretch of the Brisbane River close to where I live. In doing so, you get a frenzy of activity as the birds pair off and stock up for the weeks ahead.

In this image, a suitor gifts his female companion a small bee on a branch overlooking the river.
