I took this image at a forest preserve near Chicago. This is a Short-eared Owl that I photographed flying around sunset, which is when they come out to hunt for mice in the tall grass. I wanted to capture not only the owl, but also the environment in which they hunt and live during the winter months. Minimal processing was done to the photo (White balance, shadows, color adjustments). I used Topaz to remove noise. Captured with a Sony A7III and a 200-600G lens. F6.3 1/2000 ISO 2500 600mm.
