The image was taken a few years ago in a zoo in Germany. The idea was to shoot a kind of fine art portrait of the old lion in B&W. Since lions sleep a lot, I had to wait quite a while until he showed me his face.

Camera settings: Canon 5D Mark III with Canon EF 100-400 f4.5-5.6 L + Converter: 560mm f8 1/250 ISO 640

Post production: Convert in B&W with a warm tone, clean up and darken the backround to minimalise the whole picture and to intensify the beauty of this old lion. A little bit of dodge and burning and vignetting + blurring to the corners to intensify the old fine art look.
