A portrait like you may have never seen, this is a 56-frame focus bracket of a living gnat ogre, a tiny species of robber fly. I encountered the gnat ogre perched on the end of a small branch on an early morning macro outing this summer. It was one of the few that decided to stick around for photos.

I captured all of the frames using focus bracketing with my OM-1 and M.Zuiko 90mm Macro IS PRO. The process took less than six seconds because I can shoot at 10fps with flash with my Godox V860III and Cygnustech diffuser.
