“A Mosaic of Salt Crystal Marsh”
Colorful Dynamic Light Art at Luma Hotel – San Francisco
Color changing lighting effects behind exterior decorative metal screens (each measuring at 100 feet long by 25 feet tall) graze along both facades of the hotel honoring the history and origin of the neighborhood referencing the salt farms with colorful salt ponds once populated the area. The dynamic vibrant colors generated by RGBW custom-engineered light fixtures mimicking the colors of the salt ponds morphing in organic patterns with smooth seamless transitions create a visual spectacle to celebrate a lasting memorable experience for neighbors as well as visitors.
Significant efforts were invested with lighting manufacturer’s engineering team developing the proper optics on the light fixture that integrates within limited architectural space by studying photometric performance via computer renderings as well as life size mockups. Lighting engineers also considered long term maintenance upkeeping of the integrated system and developed modular plug-n-play components to ensure this featured piece will stand the test of time.
