Between the months of May and September, Ruby Throated Hummingbirds arrive in New Jersey. I began photographing them a number of years ago only to discover that in order to get "THE SHOT", I needed to use multiple speed lights to freeze wing movement and capture the iridescent coloring of their wings. I usually use five speed lights, one above, one below, one at a 45 degree angle and one behind the subject and one to light the background. I enjoy the challenge of photographing the hummingbirds and improving my photography skills.
