"STORM OVER THE GRAND CANAL"

I spent four days in Venice, Italy, back in October and completely fell in love with the city. On the evening I shot this image, I was hoping to catch a nice sunset over the Grand Canal. Unfortunately, it started raining pretty heavily, so I returned to my AirBnB and figured I would have to miss it. The clouds broke soon afterward, though, so I went back out to one of the bridges and hoped the sun would break through the clouds.

Surprisingly, a lightning storm happened instead. I switched my camera to an interval timer, then set it down on the bridge railing (Since I didn't bring my tripod) and took several long exposures to try and get at least one bolt of lightning. This was the only shot where I got a relatively clear bolt.

Shot with a Nikon D750 and a Nikon 28-300mm f/4-5.6 lens (Not my favorite lens to shoot with because it just doesn't seem as sharp at the wider angles). Exposure was 3 seconds at f/8, with the interval timer taking a 1 second break between each shot.
