A setup I use sometimes for its simplicity/quality ratio .

It's a 2 lights setup, only the outter edges of the softbox placed behind the model are emitting light. That is because a black fabric is placed in front of the softbox, it serves as a background and a mask for this big light source.

I gelled the spotty keylight in front of the model with a half cto to complement the blue gel in the softbox behind him.
