This is one of the images I'm most proud of. A couple of years ago, I had the opportunity to take this portrait of a flamenco dancer for a musical theatre performance.

I typically do a lot of photo manipulation and retouching, so it was incredibly satisfying to bring this image into Photoshop and keep the retouching and color grading to a minimum.

I shot this with my Nikon D800 and 85mm lens, using one medium softbox with a warm gel overhead and ambient light for the rest. I captured a very close-up shot of the dancer in that pose, but then I realized it would be much more interesting to showcase more of that beautiful hall. To achieve this look, I took additional pictures around her to create that medium format Brenizer effect.
