The title is . . . ONLY BOYS, which is the message I wanted to portray. It is not intended to be an historically accurate photo (the helmet for example). My purpose was to underline the tragedy of war. The model is my wifes grandson and to think of the millions of young men like him worldwide that have suffered horrifically because of wars. This photo took me a couple of days to complete. Firstly to find some props, then to think about the editing. I shot it with the Sony A7III 24-70 lens. Some ilumination from the lamp itself with an LED inside it. Then I put a Sony flash off camera slightly behind. I did the editing over a couple of days to be able to think about it, and to see the results bit by bit. The lsst effect was to leave a smoky haze overall. I thought it helped. I hope you agree.
