When the local pond freezes over the water fowl and other birds are deprived of a major food source. So this gentleman wades into the water with a sledge hammer and breaks up the ice enabling the birds to feed. He is masked because what he is doing is illegal, for some reason unbeknownst to me, and he is also involved in other wildlife protection schemes (e.g., anti hunt). I watched him for hours as he smashed at the surface of the pond. I managed to capture the moment when these two swans were staring in admiration at the hero in red, and at the same time, the man in red passed a knowing look at the swans.
