“Transforming” - Vancouver, BC
I’ve always loved abstract photography — images that make you pause and guess. At first glance, this might look like a kaleidoscopic patchwork of colour, almost painterly. But it's actually a top-down view of a Red Alder tree, captured in mid-October before the leaves had fully changed.

I spotted it while working on an aerial video project and was drawn in by the blend of dark purples, greens, and fading yellows. In the Pacific Northwest, we don’t often get the dramatic fall colours found in Eastern Canada or the U.S., so coming across this moment felt rare.

It’s a reminder that beauty often hides in plain sight — sometimes, it just takes a new perspective to see it.
