Captured at Bhigwan in Maharashtra, a famous winter haven for migratory birds, this image features a Northern Shoveler taking off from the water. These elegant visitors travel all the way from the Northern Hemisphere to spend the season here. I shot this moment with the Fujifilm XT-5 paired with the Fujinon 500mm f/5.6 lens. It took over 500 frames and several attempts to freeze this exact action — the split second when the bird lifts off, scattering droplets across the still water. Totally worth the patience.
