As the bride was getting her hair done, I found the perfect opportunity to strategically place a flash behind and backlight the hairspray. Right when i took the photo the bride took a sip of her champagne, not knowing I was taking the picture. The rest of the photo shows how chaotic it can be while getting ready for a wedding!

Joseph, I had to login just to comment on your image. This is frickin' outstanding!!! I shot weddings for about 10 years over a decade ago. Yes getting ready is chaotic for everyone, including the photog. I would use a lone speedlight at times like you do to separate things. Damn, I guess what I want to say is this is one of those images I wish I made. Bravo!

I truly appreciate it! This definitely is one of my all time favorite photos and I was hoping for at least a critique haha! I already received accolades and this photo was featured on their instagram and made photo of the day, so I think they were looking for something different other than the wedding photography realm. The photos that won are definitely worthy, so I lost to a worthy adversary 8-).
