Dresden’s historic center is not only a place of monuments; it is a city still being lived in and moved through. This street is a main route for cyclists, and I wanted to contrast the classical architecture and sculptural detail with the motion of modern life. Dresden was destroyed during World War II and rebuilt in long stages, first under East German communism and later after reunification, so the city carries many eras at once. I framed the image to hold the ornate stonework, the distant Frauenkirche, the fruit seller’s stand, and the blurred cyclist together — history, commerce, daily movement, and reconstruction sharing the same space.
