This image was shot at the center of Athens, Greece, at night many many years ago. The camera was a Pentax ME Super with a Pentax SMC 50mm/1.4 lens and the film a T-Max 3200 developed by me, later scanned with a Minolta Scan Dual IV. The shot was handheld and street lightning produced this unexpected 'stroboscopic' effect as the bus started moving slowly to where I framed my scene. The fluorescent light should have been oscillating at 100Hz (twice per 50Hz mains) and the number of repetitions suggests that the camera speed was 1/15 so the scene was quite well lit by street lightning. T-Max produced this soothing grain.
